I once was a professional teacher. I mostly taught music, but for one year was blessed (and I really do see it that way) to teach 4-Year Old Kindergarten. If I were forced to sum up my approach to teaching in one sentence, it would go as follows: I want kids to learn without knowing that they are learning. And so when faced with the prospect of a cookie cutter curriculum approach to “teaching” the alphabet…well… I could either hate my job or come up with a better way- at least in my opinion. (And if your opinion differs, just keep it to yourself 😉 )
Without further ado, get a small child, paper, and a writing utensil, and have at it!
